The alarming number of kidnappings and the wanton destruction of lives and property at schools across the nation has been denounced by the House of Representatives.
This follows a motion of urgent national importance moved by Honourable Billy Osawaru during plenary on Wednesday.
After the motion was approved, the House directed its Committees on Army, Air Force, Navy, Police Affairs, and Defense to communicate with the nation’s security chiefs to determine the most effective ways to secure schools and provide long-term, immediate answers to security issues.
In order to supplement the efforts of the security forces in securing the schools, the House also mandated that schools hire private security companies.
The lawmakers also demanded a social and value reorientation, particularly for the fear-stricken school-age youngsters.
