Naziru Idris Ya’u, a journalist for the Kano State government-owned Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV), was struck by an odd bullet at the Kano Government House.
The incident allegedly happened at approximately 6 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024.
Naziru was spending time with friends in the Government House premises when he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his arm. On checking, he saw a bullet lodged in his arm and realised he had been shot.
“I felt something hit my arm and saw that it was a bullet,” Naziru said. “It seemed to come from a distance as it was cool to the touch.”
After successfully extracting the bullet on his own, he was sent to the Government House clinic for emergency care.
Nevertheless, no one has accepted accountability, and as of the time of publication, it was unknown where the bullet came from—it seemed like a stray bullet.
Naziru disclosed that the nature of his injury was mild and that the clinic provided him with medical attention. He received medication, was released, and was permitted to return home.
