The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, inaugurated the 250 housing units at the Renewed Hope Estate in Oyo State on Tuesday.
This initiative is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to reduce housing deficits and provide affordable housing for Nigerians.
The ceremony took place at Erunmu Dry Port in the Egbeda Local Government Area.
Dangiwa emphasized that the project aims to be affordable for individuals and families with stable incomes, highlighting the importance of quality construction and adherence to the highest standards.
He said, “The estate includes a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom semi-detached bungalows. We will not tolerate substandard work from any developer, and we will explore all necessary legal means to ensure that they deliver as per the contract.
“This estate represents our commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian has access to quality housing, regardless of their financial situation.
“We are dedicated to delivering on this promise, and we look forward to working with the people of this state to make this vision a reality.
“The Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme is part of President Bola Tinubu’s plan to turn the country into a huge construction site and unlock the potential of the housing sector to create jobs and boost economic development.”
In his remarks, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by the state Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Williams Akin-Funmilayo, emphasized that the Federal Government’s housing initiative would significantly reduce the housing deficit in the state.
During the sod-turning ceremony on behalf of the state government, he advised the Federal Government to extend the housing initiative beyond Ibadan to other zones of the state, which have been connected by good road networks established by the state government.
