Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, made this call at a national summit on sexual harassment in tertiary education in Nigeria.
She emphasized that sexual harassment is a global menace and a pervasive violation of human rights, particularly against women and girls.
The minister highlighted the administration’s commitment to zero-tolerance against gender-based violence through several initiatives.
This move aims to tackle cases of students being coerced into offering sex to lecturers in exchange for good grades, as well as harassment and gender-based violence on campuses.
The minister also announced plans to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Education, universities, and other stakeholders to launch nationwide campaigns against sexual harassment.
